Francis Merrick, 75, was driving a Jeep Compass east in the westbound lane when the vehicle crashed head-on into a Hyundai Elantra driven by Robert Nardone, 80, near milepost 28.3 in Roxbury Township just after 7:30 a.m., NJSP Sgt. Philip Curry told DailyVoice.com.

Nardone, of Hackettstown, was killed in the crash, while Merrick, of Tafton, PA, was seriously hurt, Curry said.
